I went to 30 Strikes this past Friday for my second sponsor visit. When I made it to my destination, I fortunately came across my sponsor walking to his car, and we went on an errand to drop off some coupons. After we delivered the coupons, we headed back to the bowling alley, where he would show me how to adjust the prices for vending machines, and unfortunately for the customers the snacks are going cost more. Sorry guys. After I finished altering the prices for the vending, Mr. Stripolli and I went to Home Depot to get some paint. While driving he told me why he does most of the maintenance by himself, which I always wondered why he did not have someone else to do it, but I he told me it would cost more money to show the person how to do the job, rather than doing the job himself, and also with the recession, the budget is too tight to hire someone to do the jobs. It all started to make sense to me, and I started to grok what he was saying.
After we picked up the paint from Home Depot, we were heading back to the bowling alley, and on the way there he asks me questions about school and my plans for the future, and he asked me about my SAT's, and I told him that I had only taken it once, and my score wasn't that good. (1342 if you were interested) I told him that I struggle in math, and he said that my school wasn't doing a good job keeping on me about my SAT scores, and he said how Eastern has a rank, and how they stay on their students because they want to keep that rank. Anyway, he went over some percent problems with me, and I had some difficulties with it because of my handicap with math, but it eventually started to make sense. When we got back to the alley, I helped Michael, an employee, with some scraping and painting of the bathroom walls, and that concluded my sponsor visit. It was an interesting day. Tune in next week.
Excellent entry!
